Ready to change the world?

We’re Matt Davis + Ellen Mendlow

Our clients are making justice a reality.

You’re good at that.

But you’ve not always been so good at telling the story of how you do it. Or you want to reach a broader audience.

We talk in simple terms. We deal with you directly. We can help you figure out what you need.

Let’s take your communications up a notch.

What are you trying to change in the world? We’re here to help you do it.

"Working with Two Minds was a joy. It allowed our lean team to focus on the big picture in an already busy end of year giving season. Ellen and Matt brought their wealth of experience as communicators and project managers to draft our Annual Report, bringing it to life with a diversity of impactful stories that illustrate IGNITE’s mission and the amazing young women driving change across the country. Their strategic insights also helped shape our future approach to story collection to inform communications with our donor community. I’d recommend them to anyone looking to partner on mission-critical content and collateral like this.”

Sofia Huizar, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at IGNITE.

"Working with Matt Davis and Ellen Mendlow was an incredible experience. They brought a unique perspective to our project and helped us create messaging that truly resonated with our target audiences. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence was evident in every aspect of their work. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for writing and editing consultants who can help them achieve their goals."

Gifty Agbenyefia, Communications Officer @ SYND Ghana

“Working with Ellen and Matt helped us bring out the special sauce in the work of the Center for Restorative Change. They got us, and what we were trying to do, and it was not simple. They managed a lot of stakeholder interviews in a sensitive and considerate way. They listened, were organized, responsive, and a pleasure to work with as we delivered the new website for the center. I’d recommend them to work with on any complex copy or content needs.”

Gayle Carney, Director of Strategy  @ Pulse Forward

Our Recent work

There’s a myth that Gen Z is apathetic about politics. But this is far from true–at IGNITE, young women are showing up to lead. They are rising across the nation, to make their voices heard, as they set out on their unique journey toward political engagement and leadership. We worked with IGNITE over three months to write the copy for an interactive annual report website and teaser copy. Read more >>>

We worked with Systemiq, a European climate change consultancy, to help them turn a 100-page outline of a report on efficient 15-minute cities into an effective executive summary. Our goal was to help them engage policymakers across Europe in the initiative. Read more >>>

We partnered with Baltimore-based consulting firm Pulse Forward to create copy for a new website for the Center for Restorative Change. Read more >>>

We worked with Strategic Youth Development Network Ghana to create a strategic messaging framework. Our goal was to help them come up with overall messaging for their different audiences and build messaging frameworks for key campaigns. Read more >>>

How To Reach A Broader Audience While Managing The Risk

How To Reach A Broader Audience While Managing The Risk

Think about a high-risk situation. Let’s say you take a flying lesson. You get into a plane, you’ve never flown one before, and you prime the engines, ready to pull up into the sky. You’re taking a risk, and you can feel it, but it’s a risk with guardrails. In the end, you know you are as safe as possible. But why? Because you feel safe in the hands of the flight instructor, with thousands of hours of experience in the air, and a relationship with an expert ground crew. They have the knowledge, skills, and adaptability to handle changes as they arise. They’re trusted experts in an industry where you’re not comfortable flying solo.

Effing Ineffable

Effing Ineffable

As we were engaged in conversation with a person whose story we’re telling for a client, they described the essence of their work on a given project as “ineffable.” What does that even mean? And why does it matter so much?

An Eclipse, An Earthquake, The End of the World Is Nigh!!!

Last Friday morning, an earthquake struck. The same evening, there was an aftershock. The following Monday, there was a solar eclipse. All that’s missing for the apocalyptic vibes to be complete is a plague of locusts.
